Killing Gods: The Real Heroes

This is the fourth in a series of character and group profiles for my new book Killing Gods (the sequel to Powerless) which is out on the 22nd July. Please note some minor SPOILERS may apply for those who haven’t yet read the first book, so that’s your own fault.

The Real Heroes

An anti-hero group who run a blog and YouTube channel and organise meetings in a disused hall under a boarded-up pub. They believe powered people should not be called Heroes and that they are a danger to society who need closer monitoring. Their leader, Bobby, personally despises the newspapers who call for stricter jail terms one day, then do photospreads of the latest Hero ‘saving the day’ the next, despite all Heroics supposedly being illegal.

Rebecca is Bobby’s ex-girlfriend who helps out at the group meetings and carefully monitors the blog and forums for potential new members. She turns her back to his secret activities in the hope he will change his hardline views and rekindle their relationship.

Carl has been a friend of Bobby since school and, while not a hater of Heroes, is ready to do whatever is asked of him. He only becomes worried about the group when their secret activities turn violent and he gets drawn into something he can’t get himself out of.

Jed is Bobby’s right-hand man, who does the dirty work so Bobby doesn’t have to. He hates Heroes with a violent passion and is willing to do whatever it takes to rid the world of them.

When the story begins, Bobby is getting increasingly frustrated at the lack of media exposure the group is getting. The question is, how far would he go to change the world?
