Killing Gods: Eleanor, Harvey and The Elemental

This is the fifth and final in a series of character and group profiles for my new book Killing Gods (the sequel to Powerless) which is out on the 22nd July. Please note some minor SPOILERS may apply for those who haven’t yet read the first book, so that’s your own fault.

Eleanor Cheadham

Eleanor is a Senior Child Protection Officer for Element City Council who is assigned Lewis’s case. She is one of the most experienced members of staff and immediately sees the difficulty and danger that Lewis’s powers present. Above all else her main concern is Lewis – how can anyone raise a child with that power so that they grow up normally?

She is determined to do the right thing for him, even if that means taking him from his parents. Should it come to that, she hopes Ian has changed from the man, or rather beast, he used to be.

Harvey Morrell

An ordinary man with an ordinary job and a wife who despises him for being so ordinary. Then one day he goes along to a meeting of the Church of the New Gods after seeing Clifford Gaines on TV. Clifford seems like a man who is saying the right things and Harvey finds the whole thing makes sense for some reason. Little does he know of the true potential within him that Clifford will bring out.

The Elemental

The first recognised Hero, he helped The British Empire win the Crimean war. After returning home, his powers having been exposed in battle, he was regarded as a Hero and had a city named after him. Over time, the true extent of his abilities may have become clouded in myth and propaganda, but he remains the inspiration behind The Church of the New Gods and the archetype for all those with powers to look up to.
