My current writing plans
I like to have vague plans.
They are planny enough that, should anyone ask, I can tell them what I’m going to be doing with my spare time for the next few years. But they are vague enough so that, should those same people go away, I can decide to do something else entirely.
My kind of plans.
So I thought I would share my vague plans with you.
At the moment I’m neck deep in Killing Gods. See the word count meter to the right of this post to see how far along I think I am. It may end up being less than 120,000 words. In fact I think it will be around 100,000. But I’ll keep it at 120,000 for now, since that’s how long Powerless was, plus it’s a nice vague figure to aim for.
After that I will be writing the third book in the ‘Powerless’ series as it’s loosely called. I’ve already done some plans for that. Vague ones, naturally.
And after that I’m going to take a break from the series and write a short story collection. I’ve been itching to do some for a while. Got loads of ideas for two sets of stories: one a creepy, wierd-stuff collection and the other a set of interconnected SF shorts. Not sure which to do first. I guess whichever one grabs me the most at the time.
Also got ideas for standalone books which have nothing to do with superheroes at all. When I do those will depend on how the short stories go and how long it takes to ferment some solid ideas for any more ‘Powerless’ books.
I do have a conclusion planned for the series by the way. Definitely. How I get there from the third book I’m just not sure yet, but I have a bunch of ideas I need flesh out properly which I hope will show me the best way forward.
Vague ideas that is 🙂
