Eastercon done – now, Eastercon!
Well Mancunicon/Eastercon went well! Sold loads of books and comics, but also met some great people, had our room upgraded (twice) and ate out every night in Chinatown. So it was pretty much a win-win-win 🙂
The comic was a surprise hit for me. I didn’t think it would get as much attention as it did at a SF/Fantasy convention as opposed to a comic convention, but it went down well. And as a FYI, it’s now available digitally on Amazon, DriveThruComics, Gumroad and Etsy. But if you want to get your hands on a physical copy and can’t make it to any of my appearances this year, then you can get a paper version on Etsy too.
Some of the people I met were Jonny Nexus (who was on the table next to me, and the self-publishing panel), David Wake (on the same panel, and came round to my table for a chat) and Russell Smith who I didn’t see on a panel, but met in the dealer’s room.
Also just want to say many thanks to everyone who organised the convention. Seeing how many panels there were, the size of the main halls and all the logistics involved, that was one hell of a job.
And in bonus news, I have already signed up to Eastercon 2017 (no website yet) – because it’s coming to the Hilton Metropole at the NEC – right around the corner from us! I’ve put myself down for a table again, and for the programme too. Hopefully I will get picked for a panel next year (wasn’t lucky this time around) and I can pass on some tidbits of knowledge I’ve picked up over the last few years.
Now I have three weeks off to get writing before it’s time for the Birmingham Comics Festival! My work is never done…
Tony.
