My comic is finally released on ComiXology
It’s finally happened, my comic book is released on ComiXology! Follow these links below to have a look: ComiXology UK | ComiXology US
Why is this a big deal? Well, ComiXology is the biggest digital comics platform online (it’s owned by Amazon), so if you have your work on there, much like having your ebook on their main website, you have 1000% more exposure than anywhere else.
Unlike with ebooks however, self-publishing your comic book is much more, er… “freeform” shall we say – you upload the files, fill in the details and you just have to wait for weeks/months with no indication what is happening. Eventually, your submission is marked as ‘Received’ and then some more weeks later it suddenly changes to ‘Approved’, then ‘Approved and Processed’ as it goes live on the website with no warning. I initially submitted Powerless: Some Kind of Hero back in March, was approved in June and I just discovered today that it was published last week – only because I was bored and did a spur-of-the-moment search on the website!
The main reason for this is, unlike ebooks, they have very strict rules for formatting and content, so all independently published work has to be manually read and checked by a person before it’s allowed online. I guess that’s the power of art over words 🙂
Anyhow, I’m not the complaining type, and the chance to have any of my comics in front of such a large audience is worth the wait. So let’s see what happens!
Tony.
