Too much TV!
Why does all the good TV get squeezed into the Autumn/Winter seasons? I guess they think everyone is inside keeping warm and out of the dark nights, but it’s not like we suddenly have less to do in the evenings!
Currently we’re watching Arrow, Under the Dome, Masters of Sex, Person of Interest, Agents of Shield, The Walking Dead and Homeland. That’s over five hours (not including ad breaks) when I could be writing, or doing something I felt was more constructive. Yes, I feel guilty that I could be using this time on my own work, even though we both enjoy watching them together.
Thankfully neither of us has any interested in X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent or Big Brother or any other reality shows that are true wastes of time on TV. At least the ones we do watch are quality programs (in our humble opinions of course), and I guess you need to experience things other than what’s inside your head. It gives you other perspectives, gives you a chance to see how other writers do things, prods your creative glands and simply gives you a break.
But I still can’t shift the feeling I should be doing something else… how do you balance doing creative work vs watching creative work?
