How’s it going?
Killing Gods has been out for just over a month now and I’m happy with how it’s doing. Compared to Powerless, which was released without much fanfare at all, this has sold much better, and across more platforms.
I remain surprised at how well the iBooks version sells (courtesy of Smashwords). It’s easy to think that Amazon is the ‘be all and end all’ of ebook sales, but I have sold the same numbers on both. Makes me wonder if we (self-pub authors) are missing a trick here and should try and increase our advertising/marketing towards mobile, or the iTunes store at least.
I admit I’ve not really considered mobile much because I would never try and read a book on my own smartphone. But judging by how well it’s doing, there must be a lot of iPhone/iPad owners who do just that. So “Hello!” to an audience I didn’t know I had, and I know to avoid any form of platform exclusivity in the future.
Oh and before I forget, Powerless and Killing Gods are still at ‘sale’ price until the end of August. After that I’m putting the price back up. Just going to be trying some pricing experiments if I’m honest. Not really varied them much, so I figured I would see what does and doesn’t work having seen various ‘how to price your ebook’ posts online, including this latest one from Hugh Howey.
