Working on short stories

Yep, taking a break from the POWERLESS world for a moment while I do something a bit different. Well, not too different. My first published ebook (back when I was testing the waters, and the process) was a collection of three short stories which you can get for free on Smashwords. So in a way I’m just going back to something that’s a little quicker to write, quicker to edit and hopefully quicker to publish.

So far I’ve finished the title story (not revealing it quite yet 🙂 ) and I’m working on another two simultaneously as ideas come to me. The first one is about a young girl who discovers a strange, powerful force that shapes the course of her and her family’s life – it’s quite melancholy. Another is about a man under arrest for crimes he caused, not comitted, and the third is about a guy who has to deal with different versions of himself when a science experiment goes haywire.

There are also some older stories that need an editing pass along with four I’ve yet to start and then I’ll have a proper collection!

Hope to get a fair amount written over the holidays (got two weeks off, yay 😀 ) and would love to have it published by Feb with some paperbacks ready for MCM Birmingham in March.

Well that’s the plan, but it seems my days off are already filling up with other tasks…
