I am available for freelance/contract work

Yes, that’s right, I am available! No, I am still married… (a thousand ladies’ hearts briefly flutter, then die in disappointment, no doubt) …but I am now a full-time Freelance writer and open to offers of work.

Those who have only recently followed me may not know I have a 16-year history of working in the videogames industry, as well as my two-year writing career. During this time I worked in QA, Games Design and Level Design. I always found some writing opportunities where I could, so I am hoping to combine both my areas of expertise as I move forwards.

Work I am available to do includes, but is not limited to:

  • Game narrative design
  • Game quest design and planning
  • Dialogue writing (interactive conversations, cutscenes etc.)
  • Back-story / world lore writing
  • Character biographies and descriptions
  • Short stories
  • Comic book writing

Work I can do, but would take a significant chunk of my time, would be writing anything novella length and above. If you have a project in mind that is that size, then do still get in touch, but bear in mind I would have to weight it up against my other work for the year.

As for my style of writing, I have written two dark contemporary superhero thrillers, currently writing an SF comedy and my short stories range from Science Fiction to modern fantasy to deeply personal character studies. As for videogames, I have designed levels and written dialogue for gritty military shooters, written the pitch, character bios and world design for an upbeat SF childrens title, and fully designed and written the dialogue for a heavily narrative-led psychological drama game. So I am very versatile, can write to a brief and I’m willing to give anything a try.

For those interested in hiring me, hook up with me on LinkedIn for my full details and I will get my CV + link to my portfolio over to you.

For the rest of you, normal service will resume shortly 🙂

Tony.
